A revolution stayed on the Earth for 85 long years in disguise of Habib Tanvir, the most respected theatre personality. That revolution vulcanised several minds and won over numerous hearts. Agra Bazaar, Charandas Chor, Gaon ka Naam Sasural, Mor Naam Damad and Ponga Pandit etc were his thoughts.
He was ornamented by Sangeet Natak Academy (1969), Padma Shri (1983), Kalidas Samman (1990), Sangeet Natak Academy Fellowship (1996) and the Padma Bhushan (2002). He was also nominated as a Member of Rajya Sabha (1972-1978).
On June 8th 2009, he left for the heavenly abode. He has left us with his precious ideas. Now it is our duty and responsibility to disseminate his message even further and farther. His presence would be felt until the eternity. We pay homage to Habib Tanvir on his 86th birth anniversary.
